Clive Mahony Bursary Award 2024 – Megan Phillips

We are delighted to announce that the self-described ‘livestock sector advocate’ Megan Harvey has been awarded the 2024 Clive Mahony Bursary Award meaning she is awarded a £250 bursary.

Megan grew up on a Herefordshire beef and sheep farm and currently lives on her boyfriend’s dairy farm in South Wales, where she helps to milk around 250 Holstein-Friesian cattle on top of working in a local abattoir. Megan’s strong interest in cattle breeding and meat production has led her to now return to education to study Msc Sustainable and Efficient Food Production at Aberystwyth University.

Megan plans to spend the bursary on research resources and told us that it will help her succeed in her studies, which is great to hear.

The MQ team found Megan’s application a joy to read, and her story really epitomises what the Clive Mahony Bursary Award is all about.

Applications for the Clive Mahony Award will reopen in early 2025; make sure to follow us on social media, where we will announce their opening.
