We are delighted to announce Sally Griffiths is the successful recipient of the Clive Mahony Bursary Award scheme 2023.
Sally will receive £250.00 to help finance her studies and future career within agriculture.
Sally is currently studying towards a degree in Agriculture at Aberystwyth University, to achieve a master’s upon completion of her degree.
Born and raised on her family’s mixed beef and sheep farm in Powys, Sally’s passion for livestock farming started from a young age and has only gotten stronger. ‘I believe the passion is generated through the highs and lows that the livestock industry throws at you’.
Upon discovering the pressures that farmers are continuously under to comply with government regulations; Sally is particularly interested to learn more about how farmers can become more sustainable in the future and encouraging them to engage in the opportunities’ that are available.
Alongside her university degree, Sally is the secretary of the ‘Agri-Society’ and currently county vice chairman for Radnor YFC; which involves representing both club and country at stock-judging, public speaking events and much more.
“It was clear from Sally’s application that she is extremely enthusiastic and passionate about the agricultural industry. We hope the bursary will help with Sally’s ongoing education and we look forward to working with her in the near future”, comments Matthew Nightingale, Chief Executive at Meadow Quality.
The Clive Mahony Bursary Scheme was introduced in 2018 following the unexpected and tragic passing of Clive Mahony, an industry-leading cattle specialist who worked for Meadow Quality. The £250 bursary is awarded annually to an agricultural student to support their education whether it be with travel, housing costs or studies.
